Disclaimer
This site is a reference written from experience. It is not professional advice, and this page explains the limits of what it can do for you.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, tax, accounting, compliance or medical advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship between us. Medical billing sits on top of law and payer contract, and the right answer for your practice depends on facts we do not know.
For anything that carries real consequence — a compliance question, a HIPAA obligation, a contract with a payer, how to structure a business — take advice from someone qualified who can look at your situation.
Rules change, and payers differ
Code sets, claim forms, payer policies and federal regulations are revised constantly. A page here that was accurate when it was written may not be accurate now, and what one payer accepts another will deny.
Before you act on anything here, check it against the current source: the payer's own published policy, the current CMS guidance, or the current code set. Those, not this site, are authoritative.
No guarantee of income or employment
This site discusses working in medical billing, working from home, and starting a billing business, and it reports what that has been like. None of it is a promise. We do not guarantee that you will find work, find clients, or earn any particular amount, and any figures mentioned are examples rather than expectations.
The course
Medical Billing Fundamentals teaches how billing and coding work. It is not a certification and it does not qualify you for any credential. If you need a credential, the certifying bodies set their own requirements and you should go to them directly.
Accuracy
We keep this site as accurate as we can and correct mistakes when we find them, but we do not warrant that everything here is correct, complete or current. If you spot something wrong, tell us — corrections from readers have improved a lot of these pages.
Other sites
Links to other sites are offered because they are useful. They are not endorsements, we do not control what those sites publish, and some of them earn us a commission — see the disclosure page.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we accept no responsibility for loss arising from reliance on anything on this site. The full position is set out in the terms of use.
